I’ve been asked good questions over the years in interview’s. Such as; What's your favourite project you’ve worked on in the last year? What's the best thing you’ve been able to build in your current role? How would you describe your problem solving abilities?
One of my personal favourites Is being asked to solve an impossible problem, Gaging how humble your are to admit you cant do it or, in my case, how determined you are to find an answer.
BUT. Without fail! I’ll always get asked that one question. “How do you keep up-to-date on new technologies and trends?”
Every. Time. The thing is its a question that gets asked because the employer can gauge from your response how passionate and interested you are in the field your wanting to work in.
It can show your serious about the profession you have chosen. I’ve been told the best response is to say “you follow a variety of blogs, and keep abreast of the latest news stories around my industry. Reading multiple stories online” or some drivel.
I hate that response. You don't follow a variety of blogs, and if you do when was the last time your read any of them, or keep abreast of the latest news. What you actually do is read something about the profession your in while your on the toilet for 10 minutes in the…
